29 Lessons

So Long 2nd Floor

As I start my last year of second floor there is a lot to look back to, many lessons learnt, wiser people met, some cut off from the circle but at the end its all good. There is this verse that says all good things works to those who love Him. When you young to desperately want to grow up, to have a seat at the table. Thinking good things only happen to grown up peeps. Then boom you grow, and life hits you hard. Finances, family, relationships, employment and the list goes on. You start imagining at the fairy tale you had when you were young and it all seems like a joke. Who evens wants to grow up!!

Anyways at the end of the day growing up and change is inevitable. You have no choice, the good thing about it makes you be responsible and a MAN. You can make decisions, make conclusions, come up with solutions and if you good, you can mentor others. Am excited at this new chapter in my life. I don’t know what’s going to happen tomorrow or what new challenge is going to hit me. But all I know is am prepared and am ready. This is the point you tell life “Hit me with your best shot” and you look back at the worst memories and ask them “Is that the best you got?” So long second floor.

Here is my 29 lessons learnt over the 29 years lived.

1.       Always be thankful for the bad things in life. They open your eyes to see the good things you weren't paying attention to before.
2.       The best thing in life is finding someone who knows all your mistakes and weaknesses and still thinks you're completely amazing.
3.       Everyone in your life will hurt you sooner or later. But you will have to decide. What is more important? The pain or the person??
4.       Just because someone is strong enough to handle pain, doesn't mean they deserve it.
5.       Never be afraid of change. You may lose something good, but you may gain something even better.
6.       Be happy. Be who you wanna be. If others don't like it, then let them be. Happiness is a choice. Life isn't about pleasing everybody.
7.       Once you've accepted your flaws, no one can use them against you.
8.       Some changes are hard, but remember that there's always a reason why you wanted to change in the first place.
9.       A real man never stops trying to show a girl how much he cares, even if he already has her.
10.   Sometimes the wrong choices bring us to the right places.
11.   It’s really scary how today could be the last day you see or talk to someone you appreciate be nice and enjoy that time cause you truly never know what life got prepared for you next.
12.   Over-thinking ruins you, ruins the situation, twists things around, makes you worry and makes everything much worse than it actually is.
13.   Life is too short to wake up with regrets. So love the people who treat you right and forget about the ones who don't.
14.   pain doesn't go away, you just learn how to deal with it
15.   I'm not the person I used to be, I admit, a lot of shit got to me.
16.   Happiness isn't about getting what you want all the time. It's about loving what you have and being grateful for it.
17.   If you can DREAM it, you can DO it.
18.   Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time.
19.   Success is how high you bounce when you hit bottom
20.  However many holy words you read, however many you speak, what good will they do you if you do not act on upon them?
21.  Being a family means you are a part of something very wonderful. It means you will love and be loved for the rest of your life
22.  You don’t choose your family. They are God’s gift to you, as you are to them
23.  Family and friendships are two of the greatest facilitators of happiness
24.  Sometimes you have to stop worrying. Have faith that things will work out, maybe not how you planned, but just how they're supposed to.
25.  Desire! That's the one secret of every man's career. Not education. Not being born with hidden talents. Desire.
26.  Generous people find it so hard to ask for help even when they are going through hard times?
27.  You enroll in college, people say your course sucks. You get a job, they say it's a shitty work with low salary. You buy your car, they laugh it's not brand new or BMW. You get into relationship, they say it won't last long. As long you're proud of it, keep going and don't mind.
28.  Everyday above the ground is a blessing
29.  And the end of the day what you should worry is “does it make you happy?” so you do what makes you happy and let the others do what makes them happy.

THIS Life we Live In

Sad but True
The day that you die..Your relatives will be itching as to who will be the first to "Break the News" on FB. Your FB wall will flood with messages. "Oh gone too soon, am still in shock, oh can't believe you are gone, why you" so many messages. Some will be too lazy to type anything more than R.I.P. some will send you friend requests Others will spend the whole day on your profile On your burial day, your relatives n friends will be there in the latest fashions, car hires and perfect make ups under the sunglasses. They will pose for photos and even post selfies with your lifeless body in a coffin.. Very few people will be mourning. Your children and your grandmother. For your parents it's a case of whether you invested back home and if your Mpesa to them was active. If u were a 'generous' son, the deeper the grief. By now your spouse has gone to all your banks and insurance companies... She has been to your office to see your boss about this month's salary and your benefits..so he/she wants you 6ft under to go finish with the Insurance company. Your grandmother is there wondering why God took you instead of her..she's sad. Your mpango wa kando didn't attend your burial because your phone has been off and has no other contact.she doesn't know you are dead. At 3pm they are done. You are six ft under our feet. They party and drink at your village shopping centre or somewhere along the road trip from your village. It was a road Trip! They come back to Nairobi n life continues. Love life, have fun, know your friends, be real and have a real purpose. Leave a legacy. Be careful. Play it safe. After its all done, God's judgement awaits.

Why Should We Pray?

In the powerful work, Giving Ourselves to Prayer, dialogue with the Almighty is part of the fabric of the Bible: “Genesis 4:26 first mentions that ‘men began to call on the name of the Lord,’ and Revelation 22:20 closes the Bible with the prayer, ‘Come, Lord Jesus’ (compare 1 Corinthians 16:22). The entire history of redemption is framed in prayer. In between these terminal references we find a database about prayer that is so large it requires description beyond simple definition.”1 Why do we pray? Here are a few key reasons:2
1. We love Him. Just as a man and woman in love desire to be together and communicate, so we, if we love God, will desire to be with Him and to fellowship with Him in proportion to our love for Him.
2. We depend on God. He is our source. He is our life (Colossians 3:4). Through prayer, we receive the comfort, strength, and all the other resources we need in life, both naturally and spiritually. Prayer—relationship with God—is as necessary to the spiritual life as air is to the natural life.
3. Prayer allows us to resist temptation. Jesus warned His disciples to “watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation” (Matthew 26:41, NKJV). Living a life without prayer can leave us weak and exposed, giving an opportunity for the enemy to gain ground and potentially lure us into sin.
4. Prayer is necessary for people to invite God to act in salvation. God gave the earth to Adam and his descendants, so we must invite God to work here. If no one invites Him to work on earth, Satan—the “god of this age” because of humanity’s universal rebellion (2 Corinthians 4:4)—will dominate human affairs, and eventually the judgment of God will come. By inviting God to intercede often and specifically, multitudes can be saved who would otherwise be lost.
5. God commands us to pray. In Colossians 4:2, Paul writes: “Continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with thanksgiving” (NKJV). Jesus also encouraged His followers to pray: “Then He [Jesus] spoke a parable to them, that men always ought to pray and not lose heart” (Luke 18:1, NKJV).

Now you know what you need to do, DO IT..

Choises

You chose.
You chose.
You chose.

You chose to give away your love.
You chose to have a broken heart.
You chose to give up.
You chose to hang on.

You chose to react.
You chose to feel insecure.
You chose to feel anger.
You chose to fight back.
You chose to have hope.

You chose to be naïve.
You chose to ignore your intuition.
You chose to ignore advice.
You chose to look the other way.
You chose to not listen.
You chose to be stuck in the past.

You chose your perspective.
You chose to blame.
You chose to be right.
You chose your pride.
You chose your games.
You chose your ego.
You chose your paranoia.
You chose to compete.
You chose your enemies.
You chose your consequences.

You chose.
You chose.
You chose.
You chose.

However, you are not alone. Generations of men in your family have chosen. Men around the world have chosen. We all have chosen at one time in our lives. We stand behind you now screaming:

Choose to let go.
Choose dignity.
Choose to forgive yourself.
Choose to forgive others.
Choose to see your value.
Choose to show the world you’re not a victim.
Choose to make us proud.”

AFTER A WHILE

After a while you learn
The subtitle difference between
Holding and chaining a soul
And you learn love doesn't mean learning
And company doesn't always mean security

And begin to learn
That kisses aren't contracts
And presents aren't promises
And you begin to accepts defeats
With your head up and your eyes ahead
With the grace a man
Not the grief of a child

And you learn
To build all your roads on today
Because tomorrow's road is
Too uncertain for plans
And future have a way
Of falling down on mid flight

After a while you learn
That every sunshine burns if you get too much
So you plant your own garden
And decorate your own soul
Instead of waiting
For someone to  bring you flowers

And you learn
That you really can endure
That you are really strong
And you really do have worth
And you learn and learn
With every good bye you learn.

STILL I RISE by Maya Angelou

You may write me down in history
With your bitter, twisted lies,
You may tread me in the very dirt
But still, like dust, I'll rise.

Does my sassiness upset you?
Why are you beset with gloom?
'Cause I walk like I've got oil wells
Pumping in my living room.

Just like moons and like suns,
With the certainty of tides,
Just like hopes springing high,
Still I'll rise.

Did you want to see me broken?
Bowed head and lowered eyes?
Shoulders falling down like teardrops.
Weakened by my soulful cries.

Does my haughtiness offend you?
Don't you take it awful hard
'Cause I laugh like I've got gold mines
Diggin' in my own back yard.

You may shoot me with your words,
You may cut me with your eyes,
You may kill me with your hatefulness,
But still, like air, I'll rise.

Does my sexiness upset you?
Does it come as a surprise
That I dance like I've got diamonds
At the meeting of my thighs?

Out of the huts of history's shame
I rise
Up from a past that's rooted in pain
I rise
I'm a black ocean, leaping and wide,
Welling and swelling I bear in the tide.
Leaving behind nights of terror and fear
I rise
Into a daybreak that's wondrously clear
I rise
Bringing the gifts that my ancestors gave,
I am the dream and the hope of the slave.
I rise
I rise
I rise.

I HATE LIES

Lies are sometimes better than truth
As sometimes the truth pierce our heart brutally
sometimes the few moments of happiness given by lies
Seems better than the pain given by truth

In spite of millions of try
I was unable to lie to my soul...
Only my heart knows the pain of telling lies
But sometimes it becomes difficult to run away from lies...

Sometimes to bring the smile
On your face becomes more worthy
Than the feeling of being ashamed
For telling lies upon lies.

Sometimes stopping the tears
Falling from your eyes becomes precious
Then telling the truth
Which can only hurt.

Though i was drowned in the ocean of tears
But i can't let u sink in that ocean
Though i hate telling lies still i tell lies
As i can't see tears on your eyes
